About

History

Foothill Storytelling Guild presents to the Gold Country community of California the Auburn Winter Storytelling Festival on the fourth Saturday in January yearly. During the all-day event stories are told without notes or props using gestures, voice inflections and facial movements that light up the imagination. The one-day event has a children’s hour, a workshop for those learning the art of telling, Open Telling hour where anyone can tell a story, and the popular Liar’s Contest. In the evening, there is two hours of stories for grown-ups told by regional and professional tellers some who are members of the National Storytelling Network, an organization that requires the highest standards for their members.

Mission

Foothill Storytelling Guild is a group of Northern California storytellers who bring stories in the oral tradition to many venues in the surrounding communities.

Vision

FSG shares the love of classic tales, tall tales, historical and personal stories through school visits, library programs, programs for the visually impaired, and free public story concerts.
